Soiree Hermes Opens Spring Season: Paris Journal
Viewpoint by Andrew Scharf, Head of the WCW Group
This week Spring has hit the city of light and the luminosity has every one reaching for their Persol sunglasses aka “La Dolce Vita”. I didn’t see Marcello or Sophia on the Champs, but I saw a lot of fashionable people. The season for fariente is open. Vivre le Printemp! April is fast approaching and there is the warm smell of Jazz and stolen kisses in the air. I even saw a three year old girl smiling with her lovely milk teeth holding out two dandelions to her mother with the type of glee that makes children truly adorable.
Paris is full of treasures. The more time you spend here the more you realise what you don’t know and haven’t seen. One such place is the Musee de la chasse and beter still the Hunt Club which is attached in the back. The whole residence was once private and owned by one family. Today, the museum can be visited. It seems so nineteenth century that it reminded me of a similar institution hidden in the Niligiri Hills on the way to Kodi.
Although the place exudes the hunt and trophies, it is really a den of ideas for those with an eye for interior design.
The rooms all smell of 17th century elegance. Would Monsieur like a glass of champagne? Now strolling around the premises and wondering out into the garden to have a fag seems so natural. What a nice place to live in the centre of the town in the Marais. It is not surprising that Hermes would choose such a location to hold a special evening. They will be soon to feature a Horse Jumping Event at the Grand Palais and later open a new boutique in St. Germain.
The firm has been quite active with its charm offensive. This is marketing “haut gamme”. Such good taste that it is hard to be offended. Instead you want to burn your credit card and rejoice. And then of course, what better place to flaunt elegance than Paris.
It is only 6h30 and I hear the tweet of birds. It will soon be dawn. And the day will surely be delicious.
